About Risk Identifier
The Risk Identifier has been developed to help sport and recreation
clubs and organisations limit the risks associated with running their business
and activities. Working through the Risk Identifier questions will help your
organisation to:
-
Limit the operational and administrative risks associated with running a club.
-
Reduce the incidence of injury to both participants and others involved in club
activities.
-
Ensure safe, healthy and fun sporting environments are provided for all
participants.
It is important to note that while working through the Risk Identifier questions
will help to limit risks, this resource will not make your club litigation
proof, nor will it identify every risk associated with running your
organisation and activities.
Risks vary from organisation to organisation depending on individual activities
and operations. In addition to working through these questions you should also
note any other risks not identified here and plan for their treatment
accordingly.
To assist you in continuing to develop a comprehensive and formalised risk
management plan, VicSport has included a Guide to Developing Risk
Management Plans as part of this program. This guide
takes you step by step through a simple process your organisation can use to
complete your risk management plan.
There will always be some risks associated with the running of a sport or
recreation organisation or activity. Successful risk management is about taking
steps to manage the risks you can, and for those risks that cannot be managed,
in having appropriate insurance cover or other contingency plans to limit their
impact should they arise.
Instructions for Use
The Risk Identifier is an interactive question and answer based application. For
ease of use questions have been grouped into 8 categories. To begin work,
choose the category you wish to complete by clicking the relevant 'Go to
Questions' button.
A brief description outlining content of each category is provided, followed by
a series of relevant questions. Answer each question as accurately as possible
by clicking on the ‘yes’, ‘no’, ‘unsure’ or ‘not applicable’ option.
To move to the next question simply click on the ‘next’ button. The
progress indicator will tell you how many questions you have completed for each
category.
This application is interactive so if you would like to change an answer to a
question simply click the ‘Previous’ tab to go back. The application
will also save any work you have already completed should you need to log-off
midway through completing a category.
When you have finished all questions in a category you can either choose another
category to complete, or generate a report with relevant recommendations for
managing risks.
To generate a report click on the ‘Generate Report’ button.
You can choose which categories you would like to see printed in your report by
simply selecting the relevant category boxes. Once you have selected your
report categories click the ‘Generate Report’ button again and a report,
complete with recommendations for any questions to which you answered no or
unsure will be created.
To assist you in continuing to develop a comprehensive and formalised risk
management plan, VicSport has included a Guide to Developing Risk
Management Plans. To print out a copy of the Guide to
Developing Risk Management Plans document tick item 9. ‘Developing Comprehensive
